Candidates announced for Livestock SA board membership

Livestock SA has received seven nominations for five board positions, meaning members will be able to vote on who represents them at the upcoming annual general meeting next month.

There are up to 10 positions available on the board and five continuing board members – president Richard Halliday, Geoff Power, Alexander MacLachlan, Andy Withers and Jack England.

Nominees for the remaining five positions include:
-Andrew Clarke, Allandale Station, Oodnadatta.
-Jean Evans, Upper Sturt.
-Joe Keynes, Lorelmo Keyneton Station, Keyneton.
- Bill Nosworthy, Lake Hamilton Station, Port Lincoln.
- Steve Radeski, Adelaide.
-Penny Schulz, Schulz Livestock, Field.
-Robyn Verrall, Keith.

Mr Halliday said it was fantastic to see so much interest in Livestock SA and the organisation’s work on behalf of cattle, sheep and goat producers.

With more nominations than positions, Livestock SA will conduct a vote. Ballot papers will be posted to members this week and votes must be returned to Livestock SA before 5pm on Monday, August 25.

“Voting will begin shortly however only members can vote. I encourage any livestock producer who is not yet a member to contact Livestock SA or visit the website to download a membership form,” Mr Halliday said.

“Successful nominees will be announced at Livestock SA’s AGM on Friday, August 29, at Roseworthy Campus Tavern, to be followed by a tour of the Roseworthy facilities and the Sheepmeat Council of Australia Sheep Producers Forum.”
